Alright, folks! This is one that gives me trouble because it is NOT easy to search for.
I enjoy me some dark, twisted, or otherwise kinda screwy romance (or “romance”) where BOTH the characters are a little (or a lot) freaky, even if its in different flavors. I can find a TON of recs for dark or psychological or yandere manga/hwa/hua… but those lists are mostly full of stories where one (1) party (usually the ML) is messed-up, but the other is relatively normal/victimized. And while there's nothing wrong with that, outside of a few notable exceptions (eg. Hounds of Sisyphus, though I have my suspicions…), I just don't enjoy that sort of one-sided dynamic that much.
I've even specifically looked for “freak4freak” or “match each others' freak” sort of rec lists, but most of them are pretty sparse and/or clearly working from a different definition than I am.
It can be hard to pin-point the sort of thing I'm looking for just from the description alone, too, especially when sometimes things seem one-sided at first but then develop into a two-way mess.
