Hi! I’m trying to find a BL manga I read a while ago and it’s driving me crazy 😭
Here’s what I remember:
- Setting: post–World War II Japan, during/around the American occupation
- One main character is an American soldier (or tied to the military)
- The Japanese MC works at a bar (I think), and that’s where they first meet
- Their relationship develops while the American is stationed there
Key plot points I remember:
- The Japanese MC is rejected by his family
- At the end, he decides to leave Japan with the American
- They leave by boat to America
- There’s a really emotional scene where the MC’s mother comes to the docks as the ship is leaving
- I think they end up living together at the American’s house after
Tone wise it felt more bittersweet/emotional rather than comedic or fluffy.
