[Talk to Me Tenderly] question (opinions/advice should I drop?)

Okay, y’all, does it get less “cringe”,  for lack of a better word, any time soon?

Obviously, everyone has their own tastes, and I’m not judging or intending to diss anyone who genuinely likes everything about the MC, and/or the story exactly as it is. That said…

The second had embarrassment and the skin-crawling discomfort, that the MC (Gabriel) makes me feel is making it hard for me to continue reading this story rn…

(especially with his continued lack of consideration for the other characters’ feelings. Specifically, his pattern of: Step 1. realizing his behavior made another character uncomfortable and seemingly reflecting on it and deciding to not do it again and do better…, and then Step 2. …only to dismiss all of that reflection and his character growth, as soon as he feels like he has a chance with the other person — with no confession/admission of guilt, and/or no apology… he just brushes it under the rug like it wasn’t a problem anymore, just moments later. This pattern has occurred at least twice now, and I’m only on ch. 25)

…But, at the same time, as of now, I like the other characters regarding the roles they seem to be written to fill (even the not-so-likable character who seems to be written to push buttons and/or cause at least a little chaos). And I’m also interested in the story’s premise and really want to see where it goes.

So my question is… for anyone who has/had similar feelings about Gabriel:

Did you all end up dropping it?

Did anyone stick around and finish it? and if so, does it/when does it – get any better and/or easier to read (without feeling ick every other chapter or so)?

Thanks and please enjoy just “a few” (😅💀) of the memes for tax, hope they aren’t all nothing new or overused or anything. 🫶

PS: Sauce on the last to memes are: Porco Rosso & Legends of Avantris
